How to find out who your domain is with.

Your web address was bought from a company, and that company is the only one who can point it at a new site. Most people genuinely cannot remember which one it was, especially if somebody set it up for them years ago.

Takes about a minute. Once we know who holds it, we can tell you the one thing we need from you.

You are not giving us your password

This is a public lookup that anybody can run on any web address. You are not signing in to anything, and nothing about your site changes.

The steps

  1. Go to lookup.icann.org.
  2. Type your web address into the box, without the www. So yourbusiness.com, not www.yourbusiness.com.
  3. Press Enter and wait a second.
  4. Scroll to the part that says "Registrar Information". The company name there is who your web address is with.

Then tell us

Send us that company name, or just a screenshot of the page. If the lookup comes back with nothing at all, that usually means the address was never bought or has expired, which is worth knowing too.

Stuck at any point?

Reply to any email from us, or write to info@fernvie.com. We will get on a screen share and do it together. It takes about five minutes and there is no charge for it.
